CLAIM COMMONS

Why Claim Commons exists.

Insurance runs on pooled knowledge. The companies have it. The people they insure don't. We are a nonprofit building the missing half: a place where policyholders pool what they know, on their own terms.

One policy alone is a stack of paper. Ten neighbors' policies, pooled, are power. You learn what's normal for your street. You walk into renewal with real questions. And your numbers quietly help the next household, the way theirs help you.

That's the whole idea: neighbors supporting each other with facts, so nobody faces the fine print alone.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

You should be able to read what you pay for. Policies are written to be defensible, not readable. We side with the reader.

Neighbors know more together. Every household that joins makes the picture sharper for all of them.

The community's numbers belong to the community. Never sold, never traded, governed in the open.

WHO'S BEHIND THIS

Claim Commons was founded by Vivek Kaliraman. He has lived in Los Angeles for 18 years, trained as a CERT volunteer with the LA city and county fire departments, and built Percy (percy.us), a tool that helps families get ready for disasters. Years of readiness work kept teaching one lesson: the hardest part comes after the emergency, when a family finds out what their policy really covers. Claim Commons is his answer: neighbors closing that gap together.

A nonprofit project; fiscal sponsorship in progress.
